Why The Tower Shops In Davie FL Is A Known As A Danger Zone

By Philip M. Snyder

Careful of the danger zone!

I receive phone calls from clients all over Broward County who have recently been injured in a car accident.

What I have come to realize is an overwhelming majority of car accidents occur in just a few areas throughout Broward County, like the Tower Shops in Davie, Florida.

I like to call these areas, “danger zones”.

Danger zones can be densely populated areas (“shopping malls”), areas that have over-expanded too quickly (i.e. “new construction”), areas with inadequate parking (i.e. “Whole Foods”), areas with a large influx of young drivers (i.e. “areas near colleges”) and/or areas that have poor ingress/egress (i.e. “areas near highways”).

One of the largest dangerous zones in Broward County is less than a quarter mile from my office in Plantation, Florida at the Tower Shops on University Drive just South of I-595.

Tower Shops is a “Danger Zone” for car accidents

Anyone who frequents in the Plantation/Davie area, is familiar with the Tower Shops as it is an epicenter of shopping.

The Tower Shops are the home to anchor stores: Home Depot; Best Buy; Trader Joe’s (recently added); Ross; TJ Maxx and Old Navy, as well as fast food restaurants: Chick-Fil-A; Chipotle; Taco Bell and others. Costco is located across a small side street.

Whole Foods is located on the West side of University Drive and the Nova Southeastern University, home to thousands of college students, is located less than a mile South.

To say that this shopping center is a mad house is an understatement. The parking situations at the Tower Shops rivals airports and football stadiums.

At least once a week, we receive a phone call from a driver who has been in a car accident by either being rear-ended from someone pulling out of a parking spot, side-swiped from someone running a stop sign, slammed by someone speeding to make it through a “yellow” traffic light, or clipped by someone merging onto I-595.

A majority of these accidents occur at peak traffic hours: 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

A majority of our clients report that the at-fault driver was speaking on their cell phone and/or texting and admitted to not paying attention.Image result for tower shops accident
